Like the name suggests, Scorpio is represented by the scorpion symbol and the constellation Scorpius was first recorded approximately 5,000 years ago by Sumerians, predating the ancient Greeks. The Egyptians saw the scorpion as being a serpent-like creature that was associated with goddess Serket whose name means “She who tightens the throat” and was associated with both stings and healing. 

Scorpio is a fixed water sign that is well known for having an elusive, mysterious air about them. Scorpios are very emotional and loyal to those they love; however they often keep emotional walls around them that make it difficult to gain their trust. If a Scorpio feels betrayed or is hurt by someone, they will not forget this and are known to seek vengeance.
