Before we look at some techniques and uses of magic, let’s define what magic is.

What is Magic?

In The Initiated Interpretation of Ceremonial Magic, the late Aleister Crowley wrote in depth about how to use The Goetia: The Lesser Key of Solomon the King for summoning spirits to aid in a multitude of goals. For example, the Goetia says, “ The Twenty-fourth Spirit is Naberious…He maketh men cunning in all Arts and Sciences, but especially in the Art of Rhetoric. He restoreth lost Dignities and Honours.” Some readers would expect to create a special amulet with Neberious’ seal and do some magical working and the spirit would appear in a magical triangle and do all these things for you, but Crowley says it doesn’t happen this way.

Instead, in The Initiated Interpretation of Ceremonial Magic, he wrote, “ What is the cause of my illusion of seeing a spirit in the triangle of Art? Every smatterer, every expert in psychology will answer: “ That cause lies in your brain”… Magical phenomena, however, must come under a special sub-class, since they are willed, and their cause is the series of “real” phenomena called the operations of ceremonial Magic.

These consist of

(1) Sight.

The circle, square, triangle, vessels, lamps, robes, implements, etc.

(2) Sound.

The invocations.

(3) Smell.

The perfumes.

(4) Taste.

The Sacraments.

(5) Touch.

As under (1).

(6) The Mind.

The combination of all these and reflection on their significance.

These unusual impressions (1-5) produce unusual brain changes; hence their summary (6) is of unusual kind…But can any of the effects described in our book Goetia be obtained, and if so, can you give a rational explanation of the circumstances?...The spirits of the Goetia are portions of the human brain…Their seals therefore represent…methods of stimulating or regulating those particular spots.” So what he is saying is spirits don’t appear that bestow knowledge upon those who conjure them. What happens is the magic makes the magical worker capable of learning or accomplishing these things because they have stimulated parts of their minds that do that for them.

 Maybe this is a more boring definition of how magic happens, but Crowley was right. Magic can create some form of change in reality but most importantly; it creates change in the reality of the person creating the magic. Much focus has been on becoming a projection master and knowing how to manifest love fast. This shows lack of understanding of what love is. If all you seek is love chants to get him back when he has left you, or how to keep a guy interested in you forever, the author is sad to say this article will disappoint you.

Magic is not a way to form relationships based on lies or to get rich quick. It’s moving energy in conformity with your will, or even your Higher Will, which is more in line with manifesting your destiny. Mundane will can be how to manifest a job, how to control a bad habit you have, or even “how can I ATTRACT a man to love me”. Kundalini Magic

The kundalini energy is believed to be located at the base of the spine, and when released, moves through all the chakras, or energy centers, and allows spiritual liberation. Thought by some as sexual energy, it is indeed considered divine feminine energy, but men, too seek this, and it’s not considered a sexual experience. Getting this energy to move through all the chakras takes time and is achieved through meditation or yoga techniques. The yoga techniques involve the physical exercises, of course, but also pranayama breathing techniques as well as meditation, but there is a catch. Keep Evil Away

One very well-known use of magic is to keep evil or negative energy away. Nearly everybody has seen some form of a thing used to do this. Religious people will wear the symbol of their faith, and some people even have special amulets or protective symbols. Mirrors placed just inside the front door are believed by some people to push all negative or reflect evil energy away. At Samhain, ancient Britons carried a piece or iron or wore clothing inside out if they had to go out at night believing it kept spirits from carrying them away. In iron horseshoe at the entry of a home is believed to protect the home from evil by some people.

Others believe holy water splashed on people or surfaces repels all evil. The hamsa symbol is believed by some people to repel the evil eye, and a sandalwood or sandalwood blend incense like Nag Champa is used by some people to bless and purify the space before ritual, cleansing all negative energy. Some denominations of Christians believe the sacred ritual of baptism protects against all evil, and once they have been, no harm at the hands of any evil forces can come to them.

One way to keep evil away if you don’t want to go through a ritual like baptism or use charms or holy waters is to flat out take command of your own body and home. Anytime you feel evil is near, command it away. “I command you to leave at once and never return. This is MY house, and you are not welcome here!” is a saying some magical practitioners swear by, but it must be spoken authoritatively and with powerful force. Some people will burn white sage while they are doing this, and then seal the home closed with salt water they have prayed over.

How to Find Lost Things with Magic

This is a true story of how a cat was lost for over two months but was found using magical operations. One Spring, Amanda’s cat was attacked by a neighbor, and she immediately rehomed both cats to friends in safer neighborhoods to ensure they would never be harmed again. One went to live happily with a farm family, and the other went to Amanda’s friend Susan’s house. Unfortunately, the cat escaped from Susan’s house, and a search for the cat began.

Spellwork and metaphysical techniques were used immediately. Two psychics were consulted, one of whom stated a family had deliberately picked the cat up and intended to keep it. She described a little girl whose parents would not say no to. Another used a pendulum over a map, but could not find an exact location. Prayers were sent up, offerings for guardian spirits were given, and multiple spells were cast to both protect the cat, and help it be returned to Susan’s.

A half dozen people canvassed the neighborhood multiple times, sharing photos and asking neighbors to help them return the cat if it was found. Flyers were posted at local businesses, and a case was opened through Pet FBI and at each of the local cat shelters. The people put the information for the lost cat on online pages, and the local online neighborhood network was alerted to the situation. Phone calls came rolling in with multiple sightings of similar cats, none of which were the lost cat.

Just when Amanda was losing hope, Susan called and told her the cat was found! Susan insisted Amanda came pick her cat up and keep it indoors, which she did. This all came nine weeks after the cat went missing. Dozens of people worked together for all that time, some of whom used spells, but most of which did footwork on the mundane level. So when a friend asked Susan how the cat was found, Susan confidently answered , “Magic.”

Every bit of energy from tears to walking in stores to post flyers went into a nine weeklong magical operation focused on getting that cat back safe and sound. Little time was spent at an altar, and more gasoline was burned than incense, but Susan was right. It was magic. The family who intended to keep the cat for their daughter’s will to keep the cat was not as strong as Susan and Amanda’s will to get the cat back. The one with the strongest will was the cat, who was happy to go back home to Amanda- although it was annoyed it could not go outside anymore! That’s magic!

Invoking the Archangels

Different faiths believe there are different numbers of Archangels. Some Protestants recognize only Michael as an Archangel, while Islam recognizes Jibrael, Mikael, Israfil, and Azrael as archangels. The Jewish book of Enoch names Metatron as an Archangel and some traditions state there are seven Archangels. Most religious traditions recognize Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, while others recognize a fourth Archangel named Uriel. The Kabbalah names twelve Archangels! Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

And do thou, oh prince of the Heavenly Hosts

Thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits

Seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen”

It is believed by some that wearing a pendant of St. Michael also gives protection, and that burning a candle with his likeness on it has the same effect. He is believed to protect against evil because in the book of Revelation chapter 12, he battles Satan to defend heaven and casts him and his followers out of heaven onto the earth.

Some people believe they have their own guardian angles who they ask for help instead of higher-ranking Archangels and will buy a charm of their guardian angel for car protection, or other personal protection. Small cards, charms, or statues sold commercially can be bought inexpensively, and some people believe that the presence of the very image of their guardian angel will bring the angels protection wherever it is placed.

How to Manifest Career Success

Use of the magical technique of glamor is one way to succeed at your career. This is in no way being dishonest but keeping up professional appearances to demonstrate where you believe you belong. It begins with finding out what it takes to succeed where you want to, and then doing those things. “The clothes make the man” is a famous quote, and while that’s not true, some people are so impressed by appearances, they are more interested in what they can SEE than what is actually going on. You can use this to your advantage. If your boss loved red, make sure there is plenty of it around you and try to keep it away from the people who are competition for promotions for example.

Dress the way people who move up in the company dress, use the professional terminology they use. Eat with them, do extracurricular activities with them, and find out what higher education, certifications, or credentials you need that you don’t have, and get those things. If it is frowned upon in your company to do or say certain things, then don’t do or say those things. Make it clear the company has your loyalty and demonstrate you plan to stay long term by asking how you can contribute more to the team permanently.

If you are good at what you do, and belong in that career field, you will succeed anyways, but there are small appearances you can change to make you appear even more necessary to your team, and make them want to keep you, promote you, and be ever more appreciative. Like Amanda and Susan’s success in finding the cat, they did some spells, but the physical work they did raised a lot of extra energy that was focused on their goal. Every small amount of energy you direct towards your career success helps. Yes, that’s magic too.

How Does Love Manifest Itself?

If a man really loves you, you will never find yourself saying “The candle keeps going out on the passion in our relationship.” There is no “Voodoo Love Magic” of how to make your lover love you forever.
